  1. Definitions
    1. Aircraft - Any R.A.A. Chapter 85 Club Owned Aircraft
    2. Associate - Paid Associate membership in good standing with R.A.A. Chapter 85
    3. Chapter Officer - Chapter Director or Chapter Executive member
    4. Log - Aircraft Journey Log
    5. Member - Lifetime membership, or paid Family or Individual membership, in good standing with R.A.A. Chapter 85
    6. PIC - Pilot In Command
    7. POH - Pilot's Operating Handbook
    8. Policy - "R.A.A. Chapter 85 Aircraft Use Policy" (this document)
    9. PPL - Transport Canada Issued Private Pilot's License for Fixed-Wing Aircraft
    10. RPP - Transport Canada Issued Recreational Pilot's Permit


  2. Check Pilot
    1. Qualifications
      1. Minimum of 500 hours PIC
      2. Minimum of 200 hours Taildragger time as PIC
    2. Currency
      1. Check Pilots shall be considered current on the Aircraft in perpetuity
      2. Club Executive may require Check Flights for Check Pilots after major modifications to the Aircraft


  3. Member Pilot
    1. Qualifications
      1. Must be a Member (Associate may not fly club Aircraft)
      2. Must hold a valid Transport Canada issued RPP or PPL
      3. Must hold a valid Transport Canada Medical Certificate
      4. Must have logged taildragger time either as PIC or as Dual with an Instructor


  4. Check Flight
    1. Procedure
      1. Check Pilot and Member Pilot must review the POH
      2. Check Pilot and Member Pilot must review the Policy
      3. Member must
        1. Sign that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by the Policy
        2. Sign that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by the "Absolute Release of Liability" form
      4. Check Pilot and Member Pilot must Pre-Flight the Aircraft
      5. Check Pilot may optionally sit in the Pilot's seat for the Member's first flight in the Aircraft
      6. Member Pilot will occupy the Pilot's Seat for the remainder of the Check Flight
      7. Member Pilot will act as PIC for the duration of the Check Flight
      8. Member Pilot will re-fuel and clean the aircraft as necessary after the Check Flight
    2. Required Elements - The Member Pilot will be required to demonstrate all of the following
      1. Aircraft ground handling procedure as per POH
      2. Aircraft engine management procedure while flying as per POH
      3. Circuit procedure as per Transport Canada standards
      4. Landing procedure as per POH
      5. Generally, practising "good airmanship" throughout the Check Flight
    3. Optional Elements - The Member Pilot may be required to demonstrate some or all of the following at the discretion of the Check Pilot
      1. En-route procedure to the South Practise Area
      2. Ability to maintain an altitude at different power settings
      3. Ability to turn to a heading
      4. Ability to prevent an incipient spin
      5. Ability to recover from a stall
      6. Engine out procedure as per POH
      7. Missed approach procedure as per POH
    4. Payment
      1. The Member Pilot, acting as PIC, shall be liable for all expenses resulting from the Check Flight
    5. Renewal
      1. Members shall be considered current in the Aircraft if they have flown the Aircraft within the previous three months
      2. Check Flights must be re-taken if more than three months have passed since the Member's last flight in the Aircraft


  5. Regular Operation
    1. Before flying as PIC of the Aircraft, pilots must:
      1. Be a Member
      2. Be Current in the Aircraft
      3. Hold a valid Transport Canada RPP or PPL
      4. Hold a valid Transport Canada Medical Certificate
      5. Ensure that the Aircraft is serviceable
        1. It is solely the responsibilty of the Member operating as PIC of the Aircraft to ensure that the Aircraft is serviceable before each flight
      6. Check the Log for any notes, and check that the maintenance interval of 100 hours has not been, and will not be, exceeded by the planned flight
      7. Obtain the approval of an Aircraft Commitee member or a Chapter Officer before taking the Aircraft away overnight or for more than two hours on weekends or holidays. During busy periods this will not likely be approved unless two Aircraft are in service
      8. Review the "Absolute Release of Liability" form with all passengers
        1. All passengers must sign that they have read and understand the form
        2. Parents or guardians must sign for minors
      9. Write on the hangar notice board or trip log:
        1. Name of PIC and Passenger
        2. Departure time
        3. Estimated time of return
        4. Flight Itinerary, if planning to be gone more than two hours
      10. Be familiar with the operating limits of the Aircraft as outlined in the POH
    2. While flying as PIC of the Aircraft, pilots must
      1. Fly by Transport Canada Regulations at all times
      2. Fly within the operating limits of the Aircraft as outlined in the POH at all times
      3. Not offer instruction of any kind, including taildragger checkouts
    3. After flying as PIC of the Aircraft, pilots must
      1. Refuel, reoil, and clean the Aircraft as necessary
      2. Enter required information in the Log
      3. Enter Hobbs Meter time in the Log
        1. For flights over two hours, the time charged will be the greater of the Hobbs Meter time or 50% of the total time absent from Delta Heritage Air Park, up to a maximum of 6 hours per day
      4. If the aircraft has flown more than 90 hours since the last maintenance interval, notify the Aircraft Commitee
    4. Maintenance


  6. Implications
    1. The extent of a pilot's responsibility for payment and/or repair to any damage to the Aircraft will be assessed by the Chapter Executive
    2. The PIC at the time of any accident resulting in damage to the Aircraft may be assessed for the cost of repairs to, or replacement of, the Aircraft
